A practice documents the outcome well. The plans, sections and elevations all show the necessary information to construct a building.

The reasoning behind the information on each one lives somewhere less durable: in an email thread, on a marked-up print, or with whoever made the call.

Klaybase is where that knowledge belongs to the practice instead. It's a record of each design decision from schematic design through construction documents: what was chosen, the reasoning behind it, and the drawing or cut sheet it came with.

Recording a decision takes a minute, and it happens after the fact. There's no meeting to run and no process for the office to adopt. You write down what you settled and why, mark it when it's final, and it's there whenever anyone needs it again.

Enter the decision, or start with the question that will become one. A record can stay open while details are still being worked out, holding the work in progress where it can be picked back up.

Lock the record once the decision is final. It can still be reopened, and every change is signed and dated, so a record that's been revised three times still shows you the full path it took to get there.

Klaybase is for practices that spend time reconstructing why a design ended up the way it did, or where a decision currently stands. Tracing it back manually means searching a notebook, an inbox, or a conversation from last week that only one person remembers.

It also changes what happens when someone joins a project midway or leaves the firm altogether. A new colleague can read the decisions already made and see what's still open. What used to take a week of asking around is available on the first day.

SIMPLE AND STRAIGHTFORWARD PRICING

Every firm gets the whole product. There's no plan to choose, and your seat count sets the price.

Seats are billed in steps. For founding firms, the first five seats are $32 each, seats six through fifteen are $24 each, seats sixteen and up are $18 each, so adding someone never raises what you pay for the seats you already have. Storage is 1 TB, included.

Klaybase is opening first to a founding group of 25 firms, who keep these rates and that storage permanently. Standard rates apply once the group closes.

To join, apply below. Each application is reviewed to make sure Klaybase fits how the practice works. Accepted firms are invoiced for one seat, held until launch and fully refundable before then. At launch it goes toward your first month, and your first full invoice reflects your actual team size at the same locked rate.

What happens after I apply?

Each application is reviewed for fit. Accepted firms are invoiced for one seat at the founder rate, which secures the firm's founding place and locks that rate for every seat added later.

When does it launch?

Klaybase is targeting a launch by the end of 2027. No date is guaranteed, and your reservation stays refundable in full until the product is available.

Is this a project management tool?

No. There are no tasks, assignees, or due dates. Klaybase records design decisions and the reasoning behind them while a project is in design.

Who on the team needs to use it?

Anyone in the office working on a project, including a sole practitioner recording alone.

Can consultants & clients use it?

At launch, no. External access is a committed part of the product and will always be free when it arrives.

Is there an app?

No app yet, but Klaybase runs in a web browser and is accessible on any device.
